Slowing down or changing pitch during playback

Open any recording's detail screen to play it back with independent tempo and pitch controls.

Why this matters

Normally, slowing down audio also drops its pitch (think of a record player run too slow) — which makes it harder, not easier, to work out what you actually played. Amber decouples the two, so you can:

• Slow a fast riff down to half speed to figure out the exact notes or rhythm, without the pitch dropping and confusing what key it's actually in.
• Shift the pitch up or down independently, if that's what you're trying to check instead.

Both controls are separate sliders on the detail screen, right next to the transport controls — tempo and pitch are visually distinguished from each other (a different accent color for each) so it's clear which one you're moving.
